Easy Navigation

Share our BLOG link and help spread the word. ;-)

We have added some easy ways to navigate through all the months of posts.  There is a pull down menu to the right or on the bottom of the page, depends on your browser,  that shows Pictures, Videos & More. There is also a category search, pulled down menus in the header, and a general search.  If you are looking for something and can’t find it just post a comment.  I will try to help.

Click on the menu you will see past months.  Click on the month you want to view and you will see the posts made in that month.  Our summer Triumph Tiger 800XC trip went from June 29th – August 11th 2011.  Prep began in April.  There is also a calendar at the bottom of the Blog that shows all dates and months with posts as well.  The day is highlighted when a post was made.  I try to post everyday if I can.

Buyer’s guide for Harley-Davidson

Harley Davidson the master at marketing old technology into bikes many LOVE to buy over and over again.  We owned Harley’s for a really short time.  Impulse buys that we regret because of the amount of $$ we lost but hey you only live once.  This type of bike is not for us at this point in our lives but they sure are “pretty” to look at.

Shoei Neotec Helmet

Video at the end of the post.  Any thoughts on modular helmets?  I like this new Neotec as I wear Shoei and the sun visor is a nice addition.

Modular design: 360-degree Pivot Locking System employs stainless steel jaws that wrap around stainless steel pegs, securing the EPS-lined chinbar in the down position. Large, front-of-helmet release button is easy to manipulate while wearing riding gloves. Smooth, single-handed up/down action.

CNS-1 shield: Noticeably wider and taller than the previous CX-1V of the still-available Multitec, this injection-molded faceshield provides a broad, clear field of vision. Changing shields is a snap with the new Neotec-exclusive QR-N baseplate. Included anti-fog Pinlock insert is likewise easy to install and effective, but, technically, is illegal for night use because it does not meet VESC-8 light-transmission standards.

Ventilation: Large shutter-type lower chin vent is effective and can be opened or closed while wearing even thick gloves. Same goes for upper intake (three positions) and exhaust vents. Deep channels molded into dual-layer EPS liner move cooling air through the helmet.

ARE YOU AN ORGAN DONOR? Now that I got your attention…..please read

This is not a post to lecture anyone about whether or not you should be a registered organ donor but a post about raising awareness about the need for organ donation, my new career, my latest trip to Toronto to visit Trillium Gift for Life Network and see first hand how Hospital Coordinators perform their role and my visit to Toronto in February. Also, to let you in on how complicated organizing the retrieval and getting organs to the recipients really is in real life. Many people believe once a family consents to organ donation there are these people who show up with coolers to just take the organs. There is wayyyyyyyy more to this!

I won’t bore you with stats either but organs save many lives and long wait lists speak volumes. This is not just for the motorcyclist out there, I hope everyone will read through this post.

****If you take anything away from this post I hope it’s this: Talk about what you would want if something were to happen to you. Meeting organ donation criteria is very difficult even if you want to be a donor but what is even more difficult is watching families struggle with the question, “would he/she want to be a donor?” If you are not registered at least have the conversation with a loved one what your wishes would be in a time when you can not advocate for yourself. I have been with too many families and friends of patients who just did not know the answer because end of life discussions never occurred and by the time they meet someone like me it is too late.****

Let someone know! Can’t hurt to have your last wish become a life saving one.

To learn more about how to register or to become a donor in your area Google it or for BC go to the BC Transplant Home Page or Click here for BC Online Registration

We are working on a new and improved site or in Ontario head to Trillium Gift of Life Network  or  Click Here for Ontario Online Registration

WHO WANTS TO GO TO ICELAND WITH US?

This guy Joe who visited Iceland has been one of the reasons we want to go to Iceland and ride our bikes.  I have read a few ride reports and of course have been reading about this mysterious land and country.  I truly believe spending about 3 to 4 weeks riding around Iceland would be a dream come true.  The landscape is so different and beautiful….who wants to come along???? ;-) Be sure to watch the video!

Looks like this will be a great adventure to follow why not check this BLOG out!

25 Beautifully Illustrated Thought-Provoking Questions

Since I have embarked in to a new career after 13 years working as a Clinical Social Worker in an Intensive Care Unit, I am forced to think about things other than motorcycles.  My new career, Organ Donation Coordinator in a hospital makes me question so many things in my life.  It is scary to go from a job where I was unconsciously competent to a job that I am consciously incompetent.  Well, that is how I feel at the moment and can only hope one day I will feel competent.  In any case, the questions below, although can be considered a bit corny are really thought-provoking.  My brain does at times feel like it is going to burst with all the new information I am taking in….with all the learning I need to do but after this trip to Toronto I am feeling a little more confident I made the right decision to take this job.

We are interested to hear answers to some of the questions….please feel free to post any comments and let us all know how folks would answer these.  ;-)   Thanks.

My New Panasonic GF3 Camera – Micro Four Thirds

I need to work out the low light issues I am having with this camera.  Can’t seem to figure out how to get more light without using the flash indoors as well as outdoors.  I have not loaded the manual yet thought I could figure this out on my own.  I will be enrolling in a 3 hour class as soon as I can to learn more about this new camera and how to work it better as well as just take awesome pictures.  I am in no way a photographer but I am at the point in my life I really want to learn more.  I will never be great because I lack patience and artistic flare but I can learn to improve. (SLIDE SHOW BELOW)
