When it’s OK to say “OH SH*T”…
2013 BMW F800 GS
The latest rendition of the BMW F800 GS is the perfect balance between off-road prowess, on-road maneuverability, straight-line power, and hill climbing torque. Slotted between the heavier R1200 GS and the F700 GS, the F800 GS is an ideal marriage of lightweight maneuverability and large bore acceleration. The F800 GS is no compromise; it handles like a sportbike when you want it to and an enduro bike when you need it to.
2013 BMW F 700 GS – First Ride
Greg Drevenstedt
November 26, 2012
When BMW decided to update the F 650 GS for 2013, it was clearly in a generous mood. The folks in Bavaria gave the street-biased enduro model more horsepower and torque, a shorter gear ratio for quicker acceleration, a second front disc brake, new switchgear and instrumentation, and updated styling. Although displacement of its 798cc parallel twin is unchanged, BMW rechristened the bike as the F 700 GS to dispense with confusion over the model name (though F 750 GS would be closer to the truth). And it did all of this while lowering the base price by $165, to $9,990.
The F 700 GS gets updated styling, a new windscreen and new instrumentation. Continue reading
Top 25 Photographs from the Wilderness #1

Explore the wilderness with us… Within the next 10-15 years we will see the last-remaining wilderness area on earth dominated by the demands of growing human populations and undermined by accelerated climate change. When the earth’s last wild places are gone, all we will have are fenced off protected areas dependent on constant intervention to persist and marginalized by the demands of sustained development in emerging markets. Guides, rangers, researchers, ecotourists, photographers, artists and conservationists around the world apply themselves everyday to sharing, studying, photographing, writing about, protecting, conserving and celebrating the “wild” with their guests, co-workers, colleagues, and local communities. These amazing photographs are a window into their world, a world where the lions, elephants, orangutans and leopards still reign supreme and we can dream of that perfect morning in the wilderness…
The Bush Boyes and Ranger Diaries have teamed up to bring you the “Top 25 Photographs from the Wilderness”. These stunning photographs are selected from hundreds of submissions and are intended to bring the beauty, freedom and splendor of the wilderness to as many people as possible around the world. Please submit your best photographs from the wildest places to the Ranger Diaries wall (www.facebook.com/rangerdiaries) and stand a chance of being featured in the “Top 25 Photographs from the Wilderness” published each week. This initiative is all about SHARING and CARING about wild places. Please “Like” this blog post and share this link with as many people as possible… So begins the “Ranger Revolution”… Anyone can be an “honorary ranger” if they share and care about the wilderness, stimulating positive change for wild places around the world… Join the revolution now!

Dual Sport Riding Technique: Sitting position vs. Standing (Cons)
SOURCE: RIDE Adventures
In the previous blog post about dual sport riding technique, we talked about the Pros or reasons to opt for standing position in off road riding. The point of this 2nd part of the article is to remind riders that, just because the terrain you’re on isn’t paved, that doesn’t mean you need to be standing up on your motorcycle. (Some riders draw an automatic connection between the two, thinking that: Dirt = Standing.) While there are plenty of good reasons to ride standing sometimes, of course there are “Cons” to standing as well that we’re about to address for you:
Why NOT to Stand Continue reading

With the world of dual sport riding booming each year, adventure riders are heading out in droves to test their skills both on and off road. As the less experienced riders first start to experiencing the changing terrain, weather conditions, and speeds, the question keeps coming up: “Should I be sitting or standing when I’m off road?” Continue reading
