I am very rarely at a loss of words but when it comes to attending my first dog memorial I seem to be. I have tried to write this post numerous times but it never came out right. So, what I have done is post pictures of this special day in February, made a video as tribute to my friend/colleague Sandi and a quote Sandi said to me….I was honored and really touched. We have three dogs and will inevitably experience this loss.
This is a special post…please scroll down, take a look at the pictures and read the little story. Then, pay tribute and watch the short video. Best in HD and wide screen. I know many of the readers of this BLOG can relate. The love we have for our pets is a very personal relationship but in the end I think we all feel the same way when they have to leave us.
“I follow dog whisperer and have read many books on training. Dogs walk. They want to walk and they want to follow their pack leader. Every day. And dogs will always prefer to be with other dogs sometimes even when they love their human pack. So I have always walked twice a day. Rain. Shine. Snow. Sleet. Crap weather. Someone once told me that GOD actually means the Great Out Doors. That’s a higher power I can relate too. And DOG/GOD. Close enough for me .” Sandi
WHY DOGS LIVE LESS THAN HUMAN ? ANSWER OF A 6 YEAR OLD
”I know why.” ”People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life — like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?” ”Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don’t have to stay as long.”
Words of wisdom:
Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:
When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure Ecstasy.
Stretch before rising.
Run, romp, and play daily.
Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
When you’re happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
Never pretend to be something you’re not.
If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently.
