Official Video of the 2013 BMW F800GS
After taking my bike off road for really the first “technical” trail since I have owned it…I am happy to say this bike kicks ass….but…and there is always a but…when I get around to posting videos and picture of March 24th 2013 Dual Sport BC Spring Newbie ride…you will see I have one complaint about my awesome bike. Have a watch of a professional video…Oh, to have a cinematographer in the family! Second video is me showing you the front end suspension of my bike.

Adventure Riding Night

Events and News
I am honored to be invited to speak at PACIFIC MOTOSPORTS our BMW dealer.
Free food, KLIM there and the intro of the new BMW 1200GS, plus me! Cheryl is still in Ottawa but I get to share many pictures and stories about our Adventure riding endeavors! What would be better than being around like minded folks/riders….good food and a great dealer? Ummm…Cheryl being there but I think I can handle it!
Hope some readers of this blog who are local will come down on Friday, March 22! I think it’s going to be a fun night!

Saw it up close and personal
The new BMW 1200 is looking really good in person. I am not a huge fan of the boxer engine just because I think it makes the bike look chunky but BMW has made this bike look narrower and even lighter to the eye. No GSA version yet but I am certain it will look about the same with different rims.
I added the KTM 1190 in this collage…Who will win the big bike sales? BMW? KTM? Triumph? Moto Guzzi? Ducati? Any other?
’13 BMW F800GS – Wrong Turn In the Right Way
Went for a ride on March 8th and came across a new dirt road. First time with the F800 off road and ran into a rough new forest road. It was good for me to get back off the pavement but because I did not have water, tools and my SPOT, I turned around to be safe. Will go back to explore soon though. Watch in HD and full screen seems to work best! I edited this down a lot…

RADIOMAN a must read
Read about Mark aka RADIOMAN’s adventure and to story behind his quest to travel ADV style. Amazing devotion to his wife who passed on and a very gentle soul in need to healing.
RevZilla Rides RawHyde
We love Revzilla and have bought many accessories and gear from them. Awesome online store. This is a reminder for us all that we always can learn more about ADV riding skills. Every time I watch a video like this it tells me we need to take a course. Seriously need to make this a priority.
Mirage 2 Shield and Cock Pit
Good view and short video of the Mirage 2 shield on my F800GS and the location of the Montana 600 GPS. Love where the GPS is located on the dash.
BMW Releases Pricing for New R 1200 GS
Well, the suspense is over, we can now tell you just how many of your hard earned Washingtons it’s going to take to place a shiny new water-cooled BMW R 1200 GS in your garage. If you can exercise almost super-human self-control when it comes to checking off option boxes, you can ride off into the sunset on BMW’s latest and greatest for $15,800. Thankfully this base model comes well equipped with ABS, center stand, engine guard, height adjustable seat and windscreen, power socket, LED rear light, and more. Moving up the spec sheet, the Standard Package ($16,600) adds heated grips, cruise control, and saddlebag mounts. Next up is the Premium Package ($17,990), which includes the Touring Package ($1,450) and the Active Package ($740). The Touring Package adds Dynamic ESA (Electronic Suspension Adjustment), upgraded onboard computer, GPS preparation, chrome exhaust, heated grips, hand protection, and saddlebag mounts, while the Active Package tacks on Enduro ASC (Automatic Stability Control) with riding modes and cruise control. If you’re not too confused yet, the Premium Plus Package ($18,870) is a combination of the Comfort Package ($620), the Dynamic Package ($2,100), and cruise control ($350). To keep things simple we’ll just say that the Premium Plus Package includes everything in the previous packages plus a tire pressure monitor and LED headlight. The new GS will be available in Fire Blue, Racing Red, Thunder Gray Metallic, and Alpine White.
Britannia Mirage 2 Install
While we have been using the Cee Bailey shields on our F650′s for years and Cheryl just installed the new version on her F800, I decided to give the Britannia Mirage 2 a try. Here a some of the install pics and I hope to get out on the bike soon to test the shield out in real riding conditions today. As with anything you add to your bike it’s all subjective. If this new version of the Mirage, a little curve to the shield itself and pulled back a bit works….than I predict Cheryl wanting a custom painted Mirage 2 for her bike as well.
BRITANNIA WEB SITE – tell Ian we sent you!
This is not to say the Cee Bailey new ’13 shield is not as good, it’s about change and seeing what works even better for us. Review of the Mirage once I have one later. For now here is what it looks like in our garage. Continue reading
