Driven – The Arctic Circle

Every once in awhile I come across a video that just resonates with me…I mean everyone should watch this especially if you are an adventurer.  This guy Ed from New Mexico rode 10,000 miles in 26 days and how he sees Canada and Alaska is spot on.  I LOVE, absolutely LOVE his attitude, sense of humor….I mean everything about his heart and soul.  I really hope everyone who takes a look at this post takes the time to sit back and watch….it is soooooo worth it trust me.

I think this is my most favorite ADV video I have seen so far….and I loved seeing where we went through his eyes….BRAVO!

Space Needle Weekend

Feb 2-3 2013 (click on the pics and see the slide show)

Took a short 700 KM trip down to Seattle to ride up the Space Needle and spent the night in LaConner, Washington.  Left in FOG, had some sun, came back in the cold rain.  All in all great to get back on the bikes and just ride for fun!

Hurricane Sandy: After Landfall (October 30, 2012)

BRUTAL STORM OF MY LIFETIME! SOURCE: The Atlantic

Last night, Hurricane Sandy — the largest Atlantic tropical system on record — made landfall just south of Atlantic City, New Jersey, bringing winds up to 90 mph (150 kph), and pushing a massive storm surge onto beaches and shorelines. At least 12 deaths have been reported in the United States. These fatalities, when added to the previous toll in the Caribbean, leave Sandy responsible for more taking more than 80 lives to date.

Millions across the Eastern Seaboard are now without power, and even more are struggling with rising floodwater. Sandy continues northward, now downgraded to a post-tropical cyclone, and those affected are now assessing the damage. Collected here are images of Sandy’s aftermath, many from New York City, which suffered widespread blackouts and a record-setting high tide early this morning. The 10 Dos and Don’ts of the Dalton

Riding the Dalton Highway on the "North Slope", north of the Brooks Range

414 miles of frost-heaves, broken chip seal and grated dirt surfaces, the Dalton Highway has its challenges. On a good day, you can ride it wide open. On a bad day, you can go home in a helicopter. Continue reading

THE ONLY AMERICAN NOT ON EARTH ON SEPT 11

FROM NASA: Visible from space, a smoke plume rises from the Manhattan area after two planes crashed into the towers of the World Trade Center. This photo was taken of metropolitan New York City (and other parts of New York as well as New Jersey) the morning of September 11, 2001. “Our prayers and thoughts go out to all the people there, and everywhere else,” said Station Commander Frank Culbertson of Expedition 3, after the terrorists’ attacks. Dramatic Fog Rolls Over High-Rise Condos on the Florida Coastline

Helicopter pilot Mike Schaeffer and Panhandle Helicopter owner JR Hott captured this incredible phenomenon along the coast of Panama City Beach in Florida. When the conditions are just right (a perfect mix of temperature, humidity and winds), a dramatic fog rolls over the high-rise condos located right on the coastline. Apparently this may happen only a handful of times a year. These photos were taken on February 5th, 2012 @ 12:40pm local time. Continue reading
