Tempe, Arizona – Sedona & Grand Canyon

June 2012 – Business & Pleasure (all pics are clickable for HiRez size)

June 15th – June 18th Leslie was taking a course about Hospital Development and Organ Donation.  Cheryl flew down on the 15th for some R & R while I was in my course.  Great course sponsored by NATCO and was useful to attend even though we do things much differently in Canada.

While we were away Cheryl’s cousin Taylor and boyfriend Dave took care of our “kids” and house…they have a little Chihuahua, Olive which made 4 dogs and an elderly cat for them to care for over a week. They always help out these “kids” and that also meant they were here for 44 days last summer while we were up north. We trust them immensely.

Intro to OUR Cager Adventure – to be con’t

When we get home I will put together a post showing all that we did while down in Arizona once Leslie’s course was finished.  First few days were business and then we had 4 days to explore.  Goal was to see the Grand Canyon as much as we could.  We drove, yes I mean drove our bikes are at home, over 1000 miles in 3 days.  It was HOT but fun. ALL PICS ARE CLICKABLE for HiRES

Here are a few sample pics we took while driving in our a/c cage! ;-)

Outta here on July 9th 2012

Finally we get to go away on our bikes for more than a long weekend.  This will not be an epic trip like last years 44 day Alaskan Adventure but it’s going to be a great trip just the same.  We will have our SPOT Connect with us on tracking too.  We do this not only for anyone who might want to follow but for our family and friends to keep an eye on us.  We hate using cell phones on the road and this is one way we can stay in touch with those we need to without using the phone.

We also can skype etc.  Technology comes in handy.  There will be live update on this BLOG, our Facebook pages as well as tons of pictures.  Anyone who follows this blog sure knows Leslie LOVES her pictures.  We are excited to head down to KLIM and see where our suits are made or come from at least.  We are looking forward to getting some off roads riding tips, meeting other ADV riders and enthusiasts.  Just excited to get outta of here and get away from our jobs and be together on the road.  That is where we feel our best.

Closer to departure date I will post the SPOTwalla page so if you feel lke you want to track where we are going you can see it live.  We have no idea really where we are going after Rigby, ID so everyone else will find out when we do.  ;-)

More info on this 2 weeks adventure on the next few weeks.  WE can not wait! :-)

Atigun Pass 2011

Heading into a very rainy Atigun Pass, Summer 2011.  We left for 44 days last year on June 29th.  A part of me feels a little sad that we are not leaving this year for a similar trip.  We would go back to Alaska in a heart beat and one day will return…some reflective pictures to remind us of the rain we battled!

Heading to Tempe Arizona for work and then some R&R

Heading out of town June 14th to take a course down in Tempe Arizona.  Cheryl is coming along for some well deserved R&R.  While I will be in a course for 4 days, Cheryl will be tanning by the pool in over 100 degree heat!  No bikes for this trip but hopefully a trip to the Grand Canyon will be on the agenda.  Good news though, we are heading out on July 9th for about 2 weeks on a road trip.  Finally, we will get out.  It’s been a long few months since I, Leslie started my new career with BC Transplant in organ donation back in January.  Have not really had a break since January 16th.  I will be doing a post on my 6th month anniversary with BCTS when I get signed off of probation mid July.

Stay tuned as even when traveling via plane we still make it an adventure!

You can NEVER get enough of SPIT! Homer, Alaska

This is a really good slide show of Homer Spit.  We saw all of it and now I am motivated to get the Homer Spit pics off my travel PC and get them on my Mac….enjoy your tour of the SPIT…it is seriously a place to visit if you are going to head up to Alaska.

Take a trip to the Homer Spit in this slideshow. The Spit is a great place for kiteboarding, fishing, jogging, beach combing, and camping.

My deep thoughts about the SPIT!  ;-) from summer 2011

Long Beach, NY to Long Beach, CA on a $200 Motorcycle

Jamie Robinson

Love this guys attitude about his adventure!

Check out his web site, he is very entertaining!  MoToGeo

by Jamie Robinson

The plan was simple; I was going to ride from Long Beach New York to Long Beach Los Angeles, cheaply and alone. I wanted to prove that you didn’t need the latest bike or accessories in able to have an adventure of a lifetime and of course, do it with the freedom of 2 wheels. I was also going to try and raise some money for ‘Riders for Health’, if I could achieve all that while discovering parts of America that would be more than wonderful.

Just to make it a bit more interesting, mainly for myself, I threw in a few rules; just to make me suffer in one way or another. These were, buy a bike for $200 or less and ride it across the US using only normal roads, no Interstate or Highways. Sleep in a tent every night, use only a small map, no sat navigation, can’t shave or shower until the journey is complete and only buy fuel and food. Whatever the bike needed would have to come out of the $200 budget… if I hadn’t spent it all in one go that is…

KLIM’s Second Annual Adventure Summit This July

We are having problems figuring out where to go for at least one ride this summer.  KLIM has their annual ride and here is all the info one would ever want.  I hope we can make this event if we both can get off work…anyone going to go?

Daily rides leaving from base camp (on the Snake River) will show you the way to great views and good times.

2010 Cape Cod and more

While in Cape Cod in 2010 this was a killer night camping.  The humidity was so high we practically stuck together in the tent.  Made for a really long night trying to sleep to be honest!.

Plymouth Rock – it’s really small!

Niagara Falls, Canada side

Cheryl trying to stay hydrated in 100 F weather!

We caught a break in the 2010 HUMIDITY/Heat WAVE

In 2010 we got to ride throughout New England.  That was the good thing….bad thing it was about 95 F with about 100% humidity until we got to Maine & New Hampshire.  Still, no matter the heat wave it was a beautiful ride through my favorite part of the USA.

Maine we got our Lobster!
