Our Beagle Cruizer who will be 9 this year, Sierra going to be 11 and Xander the little guy will be 13.

Space Needle Weekend

Feb 2-3 2013 (click on the pics and see the slide show)

Took a short 700 KM trip down to Seattle to ride up the Space Needle and spent the night in LaConner, Washington.  Left in FOG, had some sun, came back in the cold rain.  All in all great to get back on the bikes and just ride for fun!

Skiing, Golf and Eagle Watching on the Same Day??

We were not able to ski today but wanted too….being on call for work got in the way but we did manage to get out for a drive.  How many places do you know where you can ski, play golf and eagle watch all in one if you wanted too?  Dec. 30th 2012 we watched skiers, people playing golf and taking pictures of the eagles that are still around the Fraser River eating dead salmon.

Here is a few pics from a great day out!  Again, we do believe we live in such a beautiful place here in BC.  There are 4 ski mountains within an hour or so drive from our house and MANY golf courses.  Weather was bright and sunny, around 3 C or 34-36 F.

Making the Leap from On-to-Off-Road

If we did not ride in the rain we would never ride in BC ;-)

I get a lot of questions from guys and gals about transitioning from a street bike to a DS.  I like this article but don’t totally agree about choosing bike size.  You can go the route of buying a used smaller, lighter cc bike at first and practice.  Or….you can sort of do what we did which was went with a 2010 BMW F650GS and just learned as we rode.  What I mean is that buying a bike is not cheap.  Most of the Bigger DS bikes are road worthy too.  You can ease your way into the back roads with any bike you choose.
If you are not into buying used, smaller or lighter at first, go with something you will like for a while and see how it goes.  It worked for us because we both knew in our hearts we wanted to be riding where the pavement ended.  Our 650′s did us WELL.  I got 60,000KM out of mine and Cheryl rode hers for 48,000KM.
We have bought way too many bikes before we found our passion.  I should have listened to an old colleague of mine back in 2008 when he said to me, “Leslie you are sooooo not a street bike or cruiser grrl, you need to get a BMW 650.”  If I listen to Scott back then we would have not went out and bought bikes that only liked to road and we would be only on our 4th bikes versus 13th.  ;-)

BLOG Vacation

We are taking a little BLOG vacation unless some really cool stuff happens to us or I find some interesting info to post.  It’s a busy time around here not only for the holidays but with work.  Leslie is on call almost the rest of the month and Cheryl is doing many OT shifts working with kids in her role as Constable.

While we are away click a category or tag and have a look around.  There are over 900 posts on here…if you have any questions about where something is that might interest you…post them here.  I will respond.  We are not that far away from a million hits….let’s make it happen soon!  Share Share this BLOG! ;-) THANKS!

Hope everyone is almost ready for the Holidays and Enjoy! Merry Christmas and Happy New YEAR from us to you!

A Break From Our Regular Programming!

B.C. gay and lesbian Mounties featured in RCMP ‘It Gets

Better’ video – THIS is WHY Cheryl & the RCMP Made

this VIDEO.

CLICK here to actually see Cheryl being interviewed!

Our BLOG post of cute puppies has gone wild over the last week….and now I would like to try and draw some attention to this video that the RCMP has released and Cheryl had a lot to do with…I hope every hit to our BLOG will at least take a peek at this video because it took a lot of guts for these RCMP members and others to get their experiences on film.

Seems like most media outlets have or are trying to get interviews with the RCMP and Cheryl.  I would love to see The Ellen Show get interested in this video for the sake of the youth.  Would be great to know this video will save a few lives out there, be used in classrooms all over the globe to show role models and that “It Does Get Better”.
