Britannia Mirage 2 Install

While we have been using the Cee Bailey shields on our F650′s for years and Cheryl just installed the new version on her F800, I decided to give the Britannia Mirage 2 a try.  Here a some of the install pics and I hope to get out on the bike soon to test the shield out in real riding conditions today.  As with anything you add to your bike it’s all subjective.  If this new version of the Mirage, a little curve to the shield itself and pulled back a bit works….than I predict Cheryl wanting a custom painted Mirage 2 for her bike as well.

This is not to say the Cee Bailey new ’13 shield is not as good, it’s about change and seeing what works even better for us.  Review of the Mirage once I have one later.  For now here is what it looks like in our garage. Continue reading

WINDSHIELD HEIGHT: HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR HEIGHT & WIDTH

1. If you have a stock non-adjustable shield go to step # 2. If your original shield is adjustable raise it about a quarter of the way up from the lowest position.

3. Move your bike to a level spot and get some one to assist if possible.
4. Tape the straight edge to center of windshield using masking tape. The straight edge needs to stand about five to six inches above the top of shield possibly more. Continue reading

Farkles for the 2013 BMW F800GS – ask before buying

It appears that BMW may have changed a few things on their new model. As for the frame, that seems to be the same as previous years so things like skid plates, luggage mounts etc should fit. But other accessories other than BMW parts might not fit. ADV Spec crash bars will not fit…so..hmmmm..has the frame changed too?
. ADV Spec has informed me that they believe their bars will fit as the frame seems once again to be the same as previously stated. They are not sure how their originals will look until they test them out on a new 2013. Stay turned!

We have found out this…our BMW hand guards do not fit as is, Touratech also right now do not have guards for this year bike. That would also mean Barkbuster hand guards need to be tweaked. I am waiting to hear back from them directly but one could assume they are running into the same fit issue.
