Got this link from Pacific Motosports  They are working on their new site….have look at their old site…this is our BMW dealer.

Road to Barkerville – EP 4 of 4

Joe Lloyd and his wife Flora really produce such great ADV videos.  I have posted these guys before and this is another installment of their trip to Barkerville which is located here in BC just north of Quesnel.  Cheryl and I visited Barkerville this summer on the Triumphs.

We were told the back roads were closed so I find it amazing that Joe and his crew made up to Barkerville the back door way successfully.  Nice adventure they all had riding through Likely.

If you ever come to BC you have to go visit this authentic Gold Rush Town.  See below for more info!  Enjoy and just so you know I have emailed Joe directly asking about DVD’s for any of his videos and they are thinking about it but for now just an online download for the full video on their website.  Would anyone buy a DVD? Please comment…just curious because we would have all his travels.

2012 BMW G650GS Sertao First Ride

1st ride review is out and sounds like BMW has a winner with the reinvention of the Dakar model.  Notice the review makes note of the easy on and off ABS feature.  Something Triumph needs to copy for their Tiger 800 bikes.  Said it once and I will say it again, Triumph if you haven’t all ready add the the ABS switch for 2013 and informatics button.  ;-)

Best Adventure Motorcycle 2011: Triumph Tiger 800 XC

Do you agree??????????

By Motorcycle USA Staff

Friday, December 30, 2011

Triumph manufactured a lot of hype for the Tiger 800, so it was a real treat to discover the British mount lived up to expectations. Not just a shrunken version of its big brother Tiger, the 800 was a purpose-built Adventure bike. Triumph even obliged an off-road oriented version, the XC, which features wire-spoked wheels and is easily the most dirt-capable Trumpet produced by the modern Hinkley company.

2011 Yamaha XT 1200 Z S Super Tenere off & on road video

Not sure why a motorcycle company in this day and age would post a non HD video but Yamaha did on the Tube.  Although not in HD it is a rather good video to advertise their Yamaha XT 1200 Z S Super Tenere.

This makes you want to buy one eh?

Repeat Post of our Video with Ray Jardine

I love this video of Ray after riding all the way from Deadhorse to Fairbanks.  Ray Jardine is an amazing man…just Google his name.  Ray was a great riding partner for the 800 KM we did on July 16th, 2011.  we went through rain, sludge, mud and as predicted by Cheryl the sun came out once we hit the Yukon River Crossing.

I recorded this video as we pulled over to clean our shields just about 90KM outside Fairbanks.  In any case….I really like raw video…just a spontaneous discussion by all of us as to how the day went.  And…what a day that was…one we will never forget!

YAMAHA Super Ténéré (pronounced like “tay-nay-ray”)

Yamaha has been selling this new Super Ténéré adventure-touring model in Europe for several years now and is finally bringing it to North America. Ténéré (pronounced like “tay-nay-ray”) is the word for “desert” in the language of the Tuareg tribe that resides in the region of the Sahara where Timbuktu is located. The first bike to carry the Super Ténéré name was the 1989 XTZ750 twin and it won the trans-Saharan Dakar Rally six times — so this new machine has good DNA! Continue reading

My 40,000 KM Service at 48,000 KM

Look at the pic below and guess what Leslie did wrong on her own DIY project.

***UPDATE:  The mistake was found in the comments below and also I just replaced my low beam with a Philips Moto Vision bulb DOT approved.  Want to see how long this one lasts and if it is even brighter than the PIAA as promised.

I guess you can say I run a little late when getting some of the servicing done to my bike.  According to the servicing schedule for my BMW F650GS the valves need to be inspected every 20,000 KM.  Well I did this in and around 20K but did not get around to my next inspection until yesterday, Dec. 6th.  Good news everything was within spec.  No adjustments needed.  I had the guys do some  preventative stuff to my bike, all that can done by yourself but I figure since the bike was apart why not get a new air filter and spark plugs.

Cheryl is mainly responsible for maintaining our bikes. Her attention span to details is way way better than mine.  Hence the first picture.  I am going to post a pic and I want to see if anyone can tell us what is wrong in the pic and what is it that you are looking at.  Tomorrow I will reveal what I did incorrectly when left to my own devices and trying to a DIY project.  I have learned after my trip to Pacific Motosports

that if I am going to participate in motorcycle maintenance than I need to have Cheryl thoroughly inspect my “work”.  ;-)

Take a look at Pacific Motosports FB page and have a LIKE…how many dealers do you know have a stock like them and they are ADV biker friendly! PACIFIC MOTOSPORTS FACEBOOK PAGE

“Prudhoe Bay Motel perfect for the end of the road”

PRUDHOE BAY MOTEL, ADVGRRLS TRIP ADVISER REVIEW

Yeah this hotel is expensive at $110 per person but there are not many choices in Deadhorse. PLUS, you get to eat 24 hrs a day in their really good cafeteria. So, for the money you get WIFI, a very clean room and facility, clean showers & bathrooms, polite locals, wear your booties to help housekeeping and all is good.

Dalton Highway is North of Fairbanks

ADVGRRLS Review of BOREAL LODGE off the DALTON HIGHWAY on Trip Adviser

Much nicer and cheaper than Coldfoot!  You should remember this place if you are going to ride the Dalton! ;-) We promised the owners of this lodge we would post a review on Trip Adviser and I finally got around to doing just that…the review was just approved.

We rode our motorcycles up the Dalton Highway this summer, 2011 and were told about this Lodge by some fellow ADV riders. Much better than the Coldfoot accommodations and half the price. Only about 13 miles north of Coldfoot and 3 miles off the Dalton and you get a wonderful host family, clean facilities and just a nice place to stay warm for the night en-route to Deadhorse. Don’t expect cook meals but the main Lodge has some canned goods and staple foods for you to buy. Coldfoot is not far away if yo must have someone cook for you.
